A Coronavirus
Children's Book

Side Project, Print Design

In March of 2022, I got a phone call from my good friend and old copywriting partner, Josh Gordon. Lockdown for COVID-19 had just started in America, and that morning he’d had a realization - there must be countless families with children who were struggling to understand and talk about what was going on. So why don’t we write a children’s book that can help? An A-Z of the Coronavirus for parents, children, and people who need a laugh. We can sell it online, and give the proceeds to charity. Win-win.

So we got to work - Josh started reaching out to designers and art directors we knew, while I started figuring out how the book would look and feel. Pretty soon we had a team of 14 friends to help. Besides the cover, font, colors, letter placement and words provided by Josh, we let the creatives do what they pleased with the 2 letters each were assigned. My letters were C and P.

The book was a success - it won a 2021 Gold ADDY for Public Service/Pro Bono Online and Interactive, a 2021 ADDY - AAF Phoenix, it was shortlisted for the 2021 Side Show Awards for Social Good, and we raised $3,586 from book sales for No Kid Hungry, a charity working to end childhood hunger in the U.S.
